Carrie George

Carrie George

Carrie George is a poet, teacher, and bookseller living in Akron, Ohio, USA. She is the Mapping Akron coordinator at the Wick Poetry Center and a bookshop associate at Elizabeth’s Bookshop. She is a Pushcart Prize nominee, and her poetry has appeared in Peach Mag, Cosmonauts Avenue, The Indianapolis Review, and elsewhere.

Poetry has the enduring power to bring people out of isolation and into community. When it comes to healing from traumatic experiences, a crucial aspect of recovery is understanding that you are not alone. When we share our poems with others, we're welcoming them into our lives, our histories, our truths. Each poem on this site is a gesture of welcoming to another person who needs to share their own selves. Each poem represents the person behind the poem, and the gallery becomes an interconnected community of people telling their stories bravely.

Amy Miranda

Amy’s known as much for her work as she is for her sense of humor, warrior spirit and personality. Amy is one of the most awarded integrated Executive Producers in North America, and she knows how to make just about anything happen. From hacking knitting machines, to putting an aquarium in a car for Shark Week. You name it, she's made it. Her creative work has garnered her many awards and lots of recognition, but it's her life story and healing work that has helped people around the world. Amy was called to practice after naming her own childhood sexual abuse. Her practice is focused on survivors of trauma and she works to help people to change their lives and reclaim their authentic power (or magic, as she calls it). Amy's practice focuses on turning trauma to triumph, demystifying the mystical and taking the woo, out of wellness. Her forthcoming book titled "What We've Forgotten" (Rise Books, December 2023) is based on her life and spiritual practice of manifesting magic is currently being offered in retreat format.
